Law Enforcement Advocate

The Law Enforcement Advocate is responsible for implementing and coordinating the Law Enforcement Advocate Program in collaboration with the Pawtucket and Central Falls Police Departments. This position aims to support victims of domestic violence by working alongside law enforcement officers, offering services, and ensuring victims receive necessary resources.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $45,000 per year ($23.08/hour)

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

· Assist Police Officers: Provide essential information and guidance to police officers who are working with victims of domestic violence.

· Victim Support: Meet with victims, either at the scene with police accompaniment, at the police department, or in a hospital, offering immediate support and follow-up services.

· Referral Services: Refer victims to additional services or resources as needed (e.g., legal, counseling, shelters).

· Reports and Documentation: Maintain and generate reports and statistics on domestic violence cases.

· Training and Education: Assist in training police officers, community members, and other agencies on domestic violence-related issues and available resources.

· Community Representation: Represent the organization at community-based meetings, roundtables, conferences, and police in-service trainings.

· Accompaniment Services: Provide hospital and court accompaniment to victims, ensuring they are supported during critical moments.

· Professional Development: Attend and participate in relevant conferences and in-service training programs.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to provide assistance and communicate effectively with victims and a diverse community.

Crisis Management: Capability to remain calm and effective in stressful, high-pressure situations.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage administrative tasks and case documentation efficiently.

Understanding of Domestic Violence: Deep knowledge of domestic violence issues and support mechanisms.

Educational Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Bilingual Requirement: Must be bilingual in English and Spanish to effectively communicate with a diverse population.
