Join our team as a SASP Advocate (Sexual Assault Service Program) Victim Advocate The SASP Advocate at BVAC will be responsible for providing comprehensive services to victims and survivors of sexual assault. Using a trauma-informed approach, the SASP Advocate will offer crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment, law enforcement support, and advocacy throughout the criminal justice process. The role also includes case management to help victims navigate through the barriers and gaps in services and ensure continuous support through their healing and legal journey.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide crisis intervention services and referrals, responding to calls through the 24-hour hotline.
• Accompany and advocate for survivors through medical, criminal justice, and social support systems, including assisting at medical facilities, police stations, and court proceedings.
• Offer comprehensive service coordination and supervision to assist sexual assault victims and their families or household members.
• Provide short-term individual and group support services to address immediate needs and emotional well-being.
• Connect clients to other relevant programs, such as court advocacy, law enforcement victim services, housing support, and other community resources.
Skills and Abilities Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
• Deep understanding of the issues surrounding sexual assault and trauma.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage stressful situations and crises as they arise.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
Job Details:
• Salary: Full Time $45,000 annually
• License/Certification: Valid Driver’s License required
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
