About

About Our Organization

Since 1987, the Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center (BVAC) has been a steadfast source of support for individuals affected by interpersonal violence. Over the decades, BVAC has grown into one of the largest and most comprehensive service providers for those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of abuse.

As the largest member agency of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence (RICADV), BVAC serves Providence County and all of Northern Rhode Island, while also operating several statewide programs—including services through the Department of Children, Youth and Families and the 24/7 Victims of Crime Helpline. Advocates are available around the clock to provide immediate support, ensuring that survivors have access to compassionate assistance whenever they need it.

About Our Team

At BVAC, our team is composed of highly trained, dedicated professionals who provide culturally specific services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We are deeply committed to supporting individuals from all backgrounds, with cultural sensitivity at the core of our approach.

To meet the diverse needs of the communities we serve, BVAC employs multilingual and culturally diverse staff, more than half of whom speak multiple languages. When additional language support is required, we rely on the AT&T Language Line Program, enabling our advocates to communicate with survivors in over 140 languages. This ensures that every individual has access to the compassionate support and critical resources they deserve, regardless of language or cultural background.
