Prevention Services

Outreach Services

The Outreach Services Program is designed to strengthen community awareness, engagement, and access to support services through strategic partnerships and event participation. The team offers tabling at events hosted by community organizations, schools, and health centers to provide vital information, resources, and education on issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and victim services. By participating in local events, the goal is to build relationships with community partners, promote available services, and increase visibility for advocacy and prevention efforts. Outreach staff are available to attend events year-round and are equipped with informational materials, interactive activities, and the knowledge to answer questions and connect individuals to the appropriate support services.

To increase awareness and promote access to support services, several outreach methods are used to engage the community:

  • Tabling events provide an opportunity to connect directly with the community, share educational materials, and raise awareness about interpersonal violence, available support services, and prevention strategies. This can be provided at health fairs, community events, festivals, and other local gatherings
  • Sharing educational materials and resources in high-traffic locations such as doctor’s offices, clinics, community centers, and public spaces
  • Using platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X to share educational content, promote events, and connect with a broader audience
  • Partnering with healthcare providers, schools, and local organizations to ensure resource materials are accessible where they’re most needed

Prevention Education

Prevention education aims to increase awareness and reduce the risk of interpersonal violence through community-based learning, outreach, and collaboration. Programs are designed to reach all ages and demographics, ensuring that education is accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive.

Key prevention efforts include:

  • Tailored presentations for schools, workplaces, community groups, and the general public to build a foundational understanding of interpersonal violence, warning signs, and how to support survivors
  • Partnering with local churches through the Central Falls Domestic Violence Task Force to provide education and resources in faith communities
  • Collaborating with trusted community organizations to deliver prevention programming where it is most impactful and accessible
  • Using evidence-based curriculum such as The One Circle Foundation model to facilitate structured, age-appropriate group discussions focused on healthy relationships, self-esteem, and resilience
  • Offering training sessions for educators, healthcare professionals, and service providers to recognize signs of abuse and respond with trauma-informed care

Youth Services

Youth Services are designed to educate, empower, and support young people as they navigate relationships, identity, and personal growth. Through prevention-focused programs, youth are given tools to recognize unhealthy behaviors, build self-esteem, and develop healthy relationship skills in safe, inclusive environments. Youth-focused prevention provides young people with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to build healthy relationships, understand their rights, and recognize early signs of abuse. Programs are designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant, with a focus on empowerment, education, and early intervention.

Youth prevention initiatives include:

  • Empowered Latina Youth Book Club: A bi-weekly book club for Latina youth ages 13–17, offering a safe space to explore themes like self-esteem, resilience, and healthy relationships while learning about intimate partner violence. Discussions focus on identifying red flags in the characters’ relationships, exploring what participants might have done in similar situations, and building empathy and critical thinking. Books previously read include Dreamland by Sarah Dessen and The Girl Who Fell by S.M. Parker.
  • Teen Dating Violence Awareness: Interactive presentations and workshops focused on identifying warning signs of abuse, understanding consent, and promoting respectful relationships. Educational sessions are provided in schools, after-school programs, and community centers year-round.
  • After-School Activities: Engaging prevention-based programs offered in collaboration with schools and community partners. Activities may include group discussions, art or journaling sessions, and evidence-based curricula that encourage self-expression, boundary setting, and peer support.
